Photobomb by doggo
So here’s a photo dump, if anyone here was curious what a 2017 RX was like.
Chasm of the abyss
PUSH MAH BUTTONS
Comfy
Backseat is yuuuuuuuuuge
Power hatch is slow and noisy, but admittedly cool.
White stitching everywhere.
Here’s the Toyota part: this cheap flimsy plastic around the transmission tunnel in the footwell.
These light up at night because L E X U S
What dis button do
Oooooh ahhhhh!

I like that the rear haunches now have a flat surface. It’s probably there so you can show off the tailgate. “Lexus, hold my beer and watch this!”
The RX might be one of the best cars for the most people at once. But I personally can’t get over the increasing claustrophobia of that rear roofline. Sitting in the back is comfy enough, but I always feel like I want more cube behind my head.

I feel the same way about the back, these sloped-roof SUVs and crossovers lose a lot of utility for no good reason.

Was the ride a little bit stiffer than you would expect of a midsize Lexus CUV? Because that’s been my experience every time I ride in an RX.

So what did you think of it? If you had the coin, would you buy it or recommend it?

It certainly handles better than it looks. I wouldn’t describe the ride as stiff, but wasn’t mushy.

Now that’s a VERY fancy Tercel!

Yeah, at some point you have to come to the realization that you’re driving a slightly embiggened hatchback. But I don’t know any crossover drivers who think that way.

your face is a Fancy Tercel

I would recommend it for someone who wanted a nice comfy crossover. Definitely a nice ride.
Would I buy it? No way. Too big and too expensive for us.

Do you feel the need to do 10 under in the passing lane, or merge at half the speed limit. If so you should see a registered BMW dealer.

The current Rav-4 has a nice flatter-looking back. Except I haven’t heard glowing reviews about the interiors so I guess people would rather have a nicer ride than one with a few more cubic feet.

Nah, it’s got plenty of power to do the legal speed limit, and dare I say, even seven OVER the speed limit.

The older Rav4 had a nice looking rear door.
now the current gen real lights are sticking out
It looks like this

The RX is based on the Highlander (THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!!!1), not the RAV4.

So you’ve been to Bellevue I see, the merging tells the story.

That helps explain the yuuuugeliness

The F-Sport trim is really rather good for what it is. If I had to drive on the highway frequently for long distances, I would be okay with one of these.
And, I am admittedly biased as my literal job is to teach people how to use the tech in these, but I find the systems easy to use and the voice commands are not difficult at all to learn.

Also next year Lexus gets the 3-row RX. Which will have a much flatter back window/hatch.
So more cargo room when the seats aren’t in use.

This is what I dont’ understand, the RX has plenty of power yet it is driven by people who confuse the gas and brake peddle.

Lol you can’t cure dumb. It’s a car not a miracle worker!

Is the steering as numb as everyone says in this generation?

Yes

Does the 2nd row move fore and aft like my friends old RX330, even more 2nd row space for a little less rear cargo area.
